sounds like when you extract them the total file space needed is more than what a floppy can handle. Generally floppies can only handle up to 1.44 meg. You might get more if you use a program to get 1.77 on the floppy. Unformatted space on a floppy is 2meg. When you format a floppy it puts info on the floppy so the available space that you would be able to use is only 1.44

You can use winzip to span the disks. This will save the file on multiple disks. To do this zip the file again but save it to your floppy disk.

Matt: What are you trying to accomplish? It would behoove you to unzip a file in a folder located on your hard drive, then determine if it will fit on a floppy. Its not good practice to unzip a file unto a floppy not know how big the total number of files that will be unzipped. Its best to start the process on a blank folder on your hard drive, then work from there to determine how many of these files can be put on the floppy. ????
