I used to download with WinMx on my dial-up 56k modem. But it seems ever since I got DSL, certain things won't function properly. Especially with WinMX. It just won't download anything at all. I configured the software, but still nothing. Any ideas?

Hello Guardian90702,
That is because tour WinMx is probally configured for dial-up. It'll have to be reconfigured for your Digital Subscriber Line.

I seem to recall a proxy connection setting that allowed you to select either primary or seconary, depending upon whether or not you were behind a firewall.
The dialog box included some detail on which to choose according to your connection method. I would check this out before doing a re-install only to find you'll have the same problem.
Sorry I can't provide more detail, but I'm not working from my machine that uses WinMX.

I have already re-configured the software, so it knows i have DSL. When i try to redo the setup, it says "WinMX is unable to receive incoming TCP connections from the internet. This could be due to many factors, such as settings in your operating system, a software based firewall, the use of a proxy server, or a broadband router/firewall. Depending on your exact configuration, you may be able to open or forward an incoming TCP port, but it is not required." Now to cancel out anything, I don't have proxies, i'm not behind a firewall, i haven't changed anything in the system since i used WinMX with dial up, and i'm not on a router. So....... now what?

Try this......
Open WinMX and go to.... SETTINGS - INCOMING TCP CONNECTIONS - put a check mark in the box that says UNABLE TO ACCEPT INCOMING TCP CONNECTIONS. You will have to re-boot for this to take effect.PS in one post you state you have Win98 and in the other XP ! Which is it?
There is an internal firewall with XP...
