I just install Norton System Works, Everything but Norton CleanSweep works.
It always gives me an error message"The WININET.DLL file is linked to missing export SHLWAPI.DLL:UrlCanonicalizA."
Please help.
Thanks in advance

I get the same error message...(problems with wininet.dll and whlwapi) -- did you ever find a solution?
thanks!

We have a Win95 machine that does not have any Norton loaded & this message pops up at unpredictable intervals...Our (unsatisfactory) solution is re-boot....
Is there ANY other solution?

whenever i try to connect to the internet it says: "this program requires the file wininet.dll, which was not found in this system." however, it was working till last week. i don't know what i did wrong. also there is a problem with microsoft explorer, i cannot open it. now i am using netscape.

I tried to download the alladvantage viewbar, and when it is over, it display a message that says the program is linked to a wininet.dll file which doesn't exit.
Where can I get it??
What can I do??

just found the answer to that in microsnot's knowledge (or lack of knowledge) database on the technet site (www.microsoft.com - click on IT professionals). just do a search for wininet.dll and look through the found list. can't remember exactly what the subject was but you'll know it when you see it. sorry, can't be more helpful, have to go solve my problem. wininet is permanently in use by windows, even in safe mode. trying to rename unsuccesfully.
good luck

The wininet.dll comes with the Internet Explorer. There is an older version that can't do everything (e.g. https connection), and there is a newer version (in the IE 4.0) that has more features but it needs the linked shlwapi.dll. You can get these files if you install the new IE. However there are pages on the internet where you can download these files only (e.g. http://www.aptnet.com/faq.htm).
The dll files should be copied to the WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.

I have the same problem but sclwapi is linked to a file called wnsprintfq .
has anybody got any knowledge of this happening.

Other solution is in DOS mode. Delete the wininet.dll file; it is locate it in your windows/system folder. After this restart and reinstall your internet explorer.

when ever i try to use napster so i download music. It says i have a missing .dll file, wininet.dll file.is there anyway i can download it or somthing, thanx

Wininet.dll comes with Internet Explorer 4.0 as well 5.0. Try to install IE5 which is free for download on www.microsoft.com

Your right it is the wininet.dll file causing all the problems. The only way you can change it is to delete or rename in true dos as windows always uses this file.
I have tried three earlier versions of the file ... norton at that point will work but IE explorer won't. Gotta love MS ...
Bottom line I have to figure this out :)
