Hello,
I just finally got rid of something called intel32 recently. It is some kind of malware I was told. Well I finally got rid of all of it so it seems. Now my problem is my wininet.dll file keeps leaving the system folder. It is still in the VMM32 folder within the system file though. I thought I had fixed it when I went and updated some things from microsoft but it just disappeared again when I did a hardboot. I still have the updated version of it but only in the Vmm32 file. I run my firefox most of the time so I only need the wininet.dll when I need to use my IE or my AOL. It is a pain though to have to go and copy the dll file and manually put it back in the system folder. Please help if you can. Thank you!Rheanun

If wininet.dll is either being removed or renamed in the c:\windows\system folder, I'd do a search of win.ini (Load= & Run= lines), msconfig startup tab, autoexec.bat, and the registry for elements which may be performing this action. Also note that the file appears to be dynamic and not static. (ie; mine (98SE) is dated 4/27/05 as opposed to 4/23/99 so something updates it.)
It's a good day when you learn something

Ok...you lost me lol. I am computer literate but not that much. So is it possible for you to explain to me how I go about doing all the checking? I don't even know what I am looking for and how I would go about fixing it. What gets me the most is that when I did the Windows updates that fixed the problem temporarily...when I restarted the computer the updates didn't seem to matter. Anyhow, any other help you can give me is much appreciated!
Rheanun

The file Intel32.exe is a symptom of the Smitfraud trojan. Obviously you have not rid yourself of the cause.
Have a look at this previous thread.
