view menu, check (enable) format bar, select font size from drop down number list

Thanks tinkerbong for the reply, but I think you missed my question. I want to reset the DEFAULT for font size in Wordpad.

I found 34 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE reg keys of which none had any reference to the font size. The only information found in th eHelp file was as Tinkerbong stated. My take is that you can not change the default font in WordPad.
