You can take the hard drive on the Laptop and connect it to the Desktop using a 2.5 to 3.5 hard disk drive adapter, found here:
http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HD-108

It may also be available locally, at a PC shop.

You will save yourself a heap of work.

Make a folder on your laptop and call it something like WIN95 (preferably on a separate partition).

Use Winzip or similar to make a spanned archive of the installation files onto floppies (first delete any files larger than 1.63MB, there not needed).

Unzip the floppies to the WIN95 folder and run setup from there.

Generally the cab number is also the diskette number. The balance will be your diskette one with the loose files + mini and precopy1 cabs.Diskette 2 will show Precopy2 and Cab2.From there the diskette number and the cab number are the same. The pattern works up to Win 98 SE.Good luck.

Petit Jean, I know that it's POSSIBLE to create floppy installation disks for Win98, but ony for someone with a LOT more patience than myself. LOL

By the time a person gets done creating that many floppies & installing Win98 from them, they'll be too old & senile to remember how to use the computer.

Though, of course, it WILL work.

Better options would be to copy the Win98 Directory onto the HD by either using a program such as Laplink 4 or by temporarily installing the HD into a PC with a CD-ROM.

HTH

Dave
