I have a windows 95 IBM Thinkpad and need a recovery disc and games to download for my grand son. Can you help. I don't know much about it. What other information would you need? Need file devic to run windows or windows application
Depends a bit on the age of your grandson. I've got the old MS Entertainment Packs. Simple stuff, block moving etc.
Quite small enough to email. If interested don't put your email address on here for the spammers to find but go to your "My Computing.Net" page and send it as a Private Message. They would need to be transferred over to your W95 somehow, either using a flash drive or even floppy disks if you still have drives.
Someone might be able to suggest some modern downloads that still run on W95.
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
You're not going to be able to run WinXP on that old thing, Win95 (or possibly Win98) would be as good as it gets.
Entertainment packs will run on W95 and above but I didn't spot the idea of putting XP on it and agree with riider. Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
I sold a 755C (486-100) that ran 98Se but it was a pretty painfull experience. I don't recommend putting yourself through the experience. Internet access and use was even more painfull and would likely be close to impossible nowdays. My other 755C (486-75) runs DOS 6.22/WFW 3.11 and makes a great cookbook reference and basic office suite when it's not taking up space sitting in the garage.
As riider said, XP is not an option.

Yep, it depends on the hardware. Win 9x is not good on a 486 or less. I'm still running W98SE online just fine (with old Avast AV that still updates and Opera browser 10.63). That machine had a replacement mobo & CPU in its lifetime so it has enough oomph. Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
