Windows won't start. Will start in safe mode. Went to Step By Step Confirmation I get a couple of questionable things. First thing is while going down the list; LH c:\windows\command [Enter=Y,Esc=N]? I enter Y and get this. Device driver not found:'IDECD000'. No valid CDROM device drivers selected Then I come to. call c:\dosboot\drivers.bat[Enter=Y,Esc=N]? I enter Y and get this. Bad command or file name
After the rest of the list I get this. Microsoft(R)Windows 98 (C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1981-1999.

Those look like bad entries in config.sys and autoexec.bat. They should not stop windows from starting.
Type
c:\windows\win.com
See if windows starts or if you get any error messages.

Just in case, you may want to rename them so they don't load. At the prompt type ren c:\config.sys config.old and enter. Then type ren c:\autoexec.bat autoexec.old and enter. Then restart it.

ham30 is right.
Try disabling those lines with REM.
Or you could re-do a step by step and say N to the problem lines.
You probably don't need DOS CD drivers. And there ain't no tellin' what c:\dosboot\drivers.bat is trying to do.
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

For later, if the forgoing does the trick have a quick look inside autoexec.old using NotePad. There might just be a line there for your Anti-Virus DOS check (Norton & AVG use this for example).
If you find them then that particular line is the only one you really need (in autoexec.bat). Both files are just for DOS programs which is why it is OK to disable them in all other respects.
