Windows socket error: (10055), on API

Recently, while running windows 98 for about an hour or so the following message pops-up on my screen: Windows socket error: (10055), on API 'connect' After it appears I cannot connect to the internet. All activities invovling a connection with the net are disabled. Can someone please help me!!! My e-mail is cabuchoma@yahoo.com
