Comment:
I'm wanting to install Windows 95b on VMware on my laptop. Now I ahve DOS7.1/windows .31 working fine, but when I boot up windows 95b after installing, I get this windows protection error. Now I was thinking it was because I ahve a 64bit AMD Turion Prosessor, but then why would 3.1 and dos install fine...?

Dos doesn't take advantage of faster cpus or boatloads of ram so it doesn't get errors associated with them. And windows 3.1 is just a dos program.

I think you can run 95 but there's a patch for the faster processor. I don't recall offhand the file name but others may post in. 98 should run OK, although I'm not sure if there are any added considerations for running it in a virtual machine.

I know about the patch for windows 95 for the amd k-5 and k-6 processor, but I can't even boot into safe mode to apply it.
