windows protection error

when starting in 95 it used to give me a windows protection error, now it comes up to the windows 95 screen but just sits there. if i ctl+alt+delete. it goes back to the windows protection error. please help.

how fast is the cpu?? win95 won't run on anything faster than 300 amd mhz cpu, unless a patch is installed. i'm assuming if thatts the case it is an amd system board/cpu. amd site has the patch.

If it isn't the CPU issue, it's most probably the vid card driver/config. Press F8 when booting (for menu) select safe mode and remove your vid driver from Device Manager. Then reboot and if it goes into Win (it'll use the default PCI VGA standard driver) you know it's definitely video.

i'm not sure on the cpu speed but i no it isn't a keyboard problem. i tried taking out the video driver but it still stops at the win95 screen or goes into safe mode. if i ctl+alt+del at the win95 screen it now gives me an OE error in the netbuei and some other area. i think i'm going to try pulling the network card. any more ideas?
