windows protection error you need to restart computer is what i got

sometimes it would work, most the time it wouldnt boot up to 95

i formated and used another but i wonder what was wrong-bad power supply? bad ram?loosedata cable?

im thinking of reusing all the parts in another

You don`t say in your system spect whether ins a P2/3 450 or an AMD-K6®-2/450 If it is an AMD processor you will need to apply the patch that was available, this was a known issue with 95 and AMD 350-500mhz processors.

The patch is still available from microsoft from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/WURecommended/S_WUServicePacks/AMDPatch/Default.asp

I can`t say from personal knowledge whther this also applies to the AMD-K6®-3 processors

... or it might have just been a bad load. Easy for a disk to get misread or some such thing.

yes i think its an amd 450 mhz cpu

it did work with win 98 but i formated

To be able to install Win95 on a system running an AMD K6-2/350MHz (or higher), the CPU has to be temporarily underclocked, THEN Win95 can be installed. Once the install is complete, apply the patch posted by Woof. Once that's done, you can reclock the CPU to it's true speed

It depends on the motherboard. Could be a jumper, DIP switch, or BIOS setting.
