When I install a usb 2.0 port on my computer i get a windows protection error. When I install it in a different pci slot i get to install the NEC host controllers but a fatal exception 0e occurs in vxd. I updated my chiset drivers. Is there anything else I can do to get this to work?

When installing make sure the only things running in the background are Systray and Explorer. Hit control + Alt. + del. to view running processes. What is most likely happening is something running is using resources that need to be updated. Close what you can from the tray and then use control/alt/del to close the remainder.
