Everytime I start Windows 98SE, it asks for a password. I have to hit escape to go on. I tried in Control Panel/Password, but do not not see any place to delete my pasword.

There 2 ways to get rid of this. One go to start -- find -- files or folder type in pwl You'll see 2 files. One is a dll file the other is user.pwl. Delete the user.pwl. It'll go to the trash bin. You can always restore it. Reboot your computer. When the password box pops up.Click the X in the uper right hand of the conner. This will close the box and you'll not be troubled with it again.
Two-Go to start run type msconfig.Click ok The System Configuration Utility box will open. Click at the top of the page the system.ini file. Go down to almost the bottom of the box. You'll see Password List. Open it. Uncheck USER=C:\WINDOWS\USER.PWL CLICK APPLAY THEN OK. Restart your system. This will get rid of this on stsatup Best of luck Frank
