I recently had my pc wiped clean I had 5.5sp2 and went to 6.0sp1. My question is I now have windows messaging in start-programs-windows messaging V4.0 for win 95. It was not on my pc with 5.5sp2. Does it come bundled with 6.0? Should this be removed? And is it safe to removed it?

I am not sure that Windows Messaging comes bundled with IE-6, but if you have downloaded a WINDOWS UPDATE (manually or automatically) lately, it probably WAS installed with that.
You should be able to safely delete it in your control panel.
start/settings/control panel
Open "Add/Remove Programs" (icon) and find it listed under the "Windows Setup" tab.
Click on the line that says "Communications" (don't clear this checkbox), then click the "Details" button. Clearing the "Microsoft Chat" and "NetMeeting" check-boxes here should take care of the problem for you. You may need to re-start your computer for the changes to take effect.
If you see "Windows Messaging" (which I don't have listed in my program remover), clear that, too.
Hope this is helpful!

Doormatt, It's listed in add/remove programs in the install/uninstall should I use that to remove it or your way? Just wondering.

Colors -
I don't have it listed in my add/remove programs because when I set up Win98, I did not choose to install messaging.
I just suggested what works for me on my old Coastline P1 computer and with my particular installation options.
Just a note here:
ALWAYS look in your "online" Help that came in Windows install .. there may be issues addressed for particular computers or protocols.

Thanks for getting back to me! I had windows reinstalled by a tech and he must have allowed it? I was having problems since the install - trying to solve them.
