OK This is broken up into three sections
1) What went wrong
2) What is happeneing now
3) What I ahve already done
1) The computer is running Win98 and is connected to the internet via a dial-up 56K modem. It stopped connecting to the internet saying that the modem wasn't configured correctly, go to control panel/modems to fix the problem. From here the person removed the modem from the list and restarted the computer.
2) When the computer restarted and everytime it restarts after that it always does the following thing
powers up and does the usual ram check and stuff.. checks the a drive then boots windows from the c drive. the windows 98 screen comes up and then it goes back to dos console mode and gives the following message .....
" Connot find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a windows application.
The Windows Registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file but the device file no longer exists.
If you delected this file on purpose try uninstalling the associated application using it's uninstall or setup program.
If you still want to use the application associated with this device try reinstalling this application to replace the missing file.
C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM/VMM32/IOS.VXD
press any key to continue...."
then as they press another key the same error message comes up but a different file is listed
"C:/Windows/System/VMM32/IFSMGR.VXD
press any key to continue"
then it another error message comes up saying
"While initizing Device INT13: invalid VxD Dynamic Link call to device number 10 service 7
your window configuration is invalid. Run windows set-up program again to correct this problem.
press any key to continue..."
then the "It is safe to turn off your computer" screen comes up.
restart and it does it again.
3) I have already lead her through restoring the registry but I don't know anything about BIOS interupts "INT13"
ANY SUGGESTIONS????
Thanks
