I'm working on a friend's laptop and when Windows is going through it's install - when the progress bar hits 100% it freezes up. No error messages - nothing. It just freezes up. Anybody have any ideas of why it's doing this?
Make sure you wait a very long time before you decide it is actually frozen sometimes it takes a long time for some reason. I've heard that windows can actually freeze a few times durning installation and you are supposed to reboot and it should continue to finish after giving a prompt of some kind. Can't remember exactly. Keep trying, if it's a definate no go I'd do as topgun suggested and fdisk and reformat, then try again.

Just another possibility-windows installation can freeze because of an overclocked cpu or faulty/misplaced ram. Had these experiences before. Yesterday my windows 98 se installation froze when copying system files (re installation) had to reformat and reinstall
