after installing, and then uninstalling, a cdrw program, my cdrw drive won't work: windows freezes so long as its connected. When I disconnect it, windows will start up. What's going on? Any ideas? BTW, it's a philips 3610

Are you talking about the program or the cd drive? You have to tell us some info, like your op system, memory installed, windows version, ide or scsi drive, how the jumpers are set on the cd drives, etc. Did you make sure it would work on your system before you got it, or go to Philips's site for info on the problem?

Try this : Back up your Autoexec.bat and Config.sys to a floppy and delete them from your C: and reboot, Do it all from Dos [I know you can't do it from Windows anyway]I had this problem once but it would boot after 10 mins on average so I re-installed the Cd-rom drivers and it worked ok after, it's never happened since even with all the formatting and partitioning I've done to this poor P.C.

I have a similar problem with the same drive(Phillips 3610 CDRW IDE). However, mine only freezes when I put any CDRW disk in the drive. I can read, write, copy or play CDR disks; but not CDRW. Have you found any solutions to your problem that might help me? Joe
