I just put Win95se on a friends computer. It works fine until I open windows explorer. Whin I chick on a file it opens but whin I click on another file it will freeze. I CTEL-ALT-DELETE and I get the message that windows explorer is not responding. I then click end task and the computer freezes up. After it freezes up I noticed that the hard drive light and the cd rom light blinks of and on at the same time.

Lights are normal, but this deal with the files... Could you explain more thoroughly? What kind of files are you trying to open...?
It could be a problem with the app that opens the files, not windows. If not, you can always reformat the hd and put windows back on - but i don't think thats it. :S
Anyways, please explain more thoroughly,
Jag

i had the same prob.

Check the cab files of win95se. Or rather load from another cd if required.

also see to it with the memory modules.

if backup is taken, then go for fomatting, full format not a quick format. load the same and just try to open files. if it works go for loading office and other programs/ applications one at time and check for the same. this has to help.

and lastly if nothing works, motherboard is the problem replace it.

hope this may help you. go for divide and rule policy.
