Hi - an weird one for you all. When I go into Windows Explorer, by either clicking on "my computer" on the desktop or selecting it from the start/programs menu, all is well as long as I don't try to look at the "details" view of my files - if I do, all files and icons disappear from the viewing window. This is troublesome, as I use the "details" view quite frequently. This happened during a time I was changing file attributes on a selection of files, no-where near the Windows directory. If anyone can tell me what has happened to my "details" view I would be grateful. I am running 98SE, and it makes no difference if I use active desktop or not.

You should probably go to explorer and check the properties of all of the folders. You may have somehow changed the attributes to Hidden.

Nice idea, but they would have not shown up on big icons, small icons or list either. And I show my hidden files, 'cos I like to know what is sitting around on my hard disks! Found an answer elsewhere, which was to click into the empty frame and press ctrl and + - brought everything back, allbeit in a strange way. Would love to know what happened though!
