Hi All, When I start my computer it comes up with "Error reading data on drive C Abort,Retry,Fail" After several retries it will load windows. I ran scandisk and it comes up with no bad sectors. The Maxtor utility shows the drive to be fine.Being out of this for some time, can you please refresh me on some of the ways to go about trying to repair this? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks darksea

Do you have a Windows 98 boot disk ? If not you can get one from HERE then boot your system with the boot in the drive Then at the A:/> prompt type fdisk_/mbr

I normally use fdisk /mbr
Maybe fdisk_/mbr works just as well but I've not run into it, so thought I'd mention the more usual version just in case it was a typo.

That'd be a difficult key to hit by accident (& no, it couldn't work as written)

Sure, typos happen - - still, I don't see how you'd 'accidentally' hit a shifted key at the top of the keyboard in lieu of the spacebar (must be an ergonomic keyboard)
