pentium 133, 48 megs ram, 1.6 hd, win98se
About every other time I start up I get an error message that says:
"Windows encountered an error accessing the system registry. Windows will restart and repair the registry for you."I started losing files in win95 so I formatted and reinstalled 95 and I began to get this error, so I formatted again and installed win98se, but I still get the error.
Sometimes I get it 2 or 3 times in a row before it boots up ok.
Any ideas?

It almost sounds as if you have a virus of some sort. A friend of mine had that problem and the only way she could get rid of it was to format the drive and then she had to put a different version of windows on it. Not sure if this is your problem, but that what she did.
Good luck

I have a same problem and I dont know what to do. deffenetly not a virus - i tried with different hdd and it does the same thing
only way is for me i leave my computer always on and I have no prob
My pc is an ACER 233Pentium 48meg RAM and 1.2G HDD Win98 first version, but I had 95 on and had a same problem.
Please help, what is this prob

I also have this problem but it's only once a day and I'm using W98 S.E. After I installed some software I have to back up the registry (run: scanreg) to avoid losing my settings for this software when it finds another error the next day. I'm very curious if there's a solution for this problem....

I don't know... sounds like your power supply
or motherboard may be trying to quit on you.
Try getting another PS and see if the situation improves, and maybe by the process of elimination, you might find the problem.

razor, I believe you may be right. I work with 2 fellows who gave me exactly the same answer.
I think i've narrowed it down to the power supply. After i format everything cleans up until i try to install my video card (have on board video). Anytime i add hardware things start to mess up so i assume that my power supply is gettng weak and can't handle anything extra.
I haven't tried to to add hardware in the 3 months since i asked this question and havent had anymore problems.
