Hi sano, hello everyone
It is a thread where someone was having a problem with their homepage being hijacked.
They posted their hijackthis log file and within it was "windows adstatus".Download, update and run Spybot S&D
.Post back and let us know the results.
Best Regards,
Mesich"The box said "Requires Windows 95 or better." So I installed LINUX".

mesich, i've solved the problem.
i've spybot and ad-aware up-to-date. after running spybot(it manage to find some spyware), i ran ad-aware and it found 20 odds adware but only to realise it freezed when i click next to remove them all. but upon reboot, i notice 2 program still running in the background. windows adstatus and another one i can't remember, sounds like "winstat"??
i run msconfig and found "windows adstatus", so i disable it and reboot. guess what? it still appear(ctrl+alt+del). so, i boot to safe-mode and run ad-aware(full system scan), this time round, it manage to remove all item found. so next, i run msconfig again and untick "windows adstatus"(yes, again). delete windows adstatus's registry key manually in regedit. go to c:>program files>windows adstatus and delete it.
reboot to normal mode and all is fine again!
