windows 98start button is gone

Hi - I was starting an old laptop of mine, running Windows 98. I was getting Explorer.exe problem errors and having to press "stop." I think I may have done a Control-Alt-Delete and also have pressed "End Task" for the Taskbar and Menu. In any case, now when I start my computer (many tries, including Safe Mode), I get no Menu, no Taskbar, no Start Button, just the design for my window and nothing else. I can't find a way to get any Menu or Icons back. Any ideas?

Try pressing the Windows key on your keyboard. If the taskbar and Start button reappear, use your mouse to right-click on it and "Lock Taskbar".

Hi sdfox 7,

No luck. Thus far, no key or combination of keys has had any effect. The only thing that does anything at all is Ctrl-Alt-Del (no help from that, either, though).

Thanks for posting,

open a run command box (win key + r), and type in explorer.exe.
