I have an old Inspiron 3800 running Windows 98. The win.com file is gone. I do not have the installation diskettes readily available (away from home for awhile). Scanreg and a search of C: failed to restore or find either WIN.COM or WIN.CNF.

Can anyone send me a copy? I would very much appreciate it.

Do you have first or second edition of 98? If you don't know, type ver and enter at the dos prompt and post back what it says.

We overlapped. I've sent file for first edition. The W98SE file is the same size so maybe it will do for that too. Otherwise either Dave or I can send the later one.
