Windows 98 will not boot up. After you get past the sign in winow the following happens. The Illegal operation window appears. The details said it is the explorer.exe then it gives details about the regester. When you close the error window nothing happens it just hangs there. I figured that I might need to reinstall windws but can not figure how. Does any one have a suggestion. I did try booting up the computer with a windows 98 start up disk wi
with no luck.

Does any one have any suggestions.

Thanks

Sometimes restoring an older registry helps. After booting from the bootdisk type:

c:\windows\command\scanreg/restore

and enter. Choose a registry to restore with a date that precedes the problem.
