Does anyone know if there is a download, for all existing updates, for Windows 98 in one package. I am reloading Windows 98 on my sisters computer and she has a very slow 56k internet conection, I would like to find somewhere I could download all updates from my machine, which has a cable modem and would only take me a few minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you asking about Win98 (i.e. first edition) or Win98SE?

If it is Win98SE then you can get all the updates to your local hard drive from Windows Update. To know how to do that see my website (follow the homepage link). It has the full detail of how to. Follow the link titled "How to get updates for your OS from Windows Update to your local hard drive".

It's 98 SE, but I'm running XP. Ijust want to download all the updates for another computer, with my cable modem, burn them to disk, and update the 98 SE PC from a disk.

I know I can go to windows update and click on 100 updates and download them that way. What I want to know if there is one file with all the updates, for say someone in IT, so you can have one disk with all the updates on it.

You can still use Windows Update the way I suggested above. It does NOT matter which OS you are running.

The method I have shown works to download updates for any MS OS regardless of which OS you are actually running.

Try it - I use it all the time for different OSes from Win98SE. I even download updates for XP from Win98SE.

Mosaddique,
Thanks a bundle, I ordered the cd for free, no shipping or anything. I work on everyone's computers around here and they all have different OS's installed, so this will be a real time saver. Thanks again man, great site!!!

If anyone's interested, MS is also offering free Update CDs for Office 2000 & Office XP.

Here's the link.

That is only true for North America.

Sadly this offer does NOT extend to UK or the rest of the world. Unless of course someone knows better.
