windows 98 shutdown patch

I had the problems with shutting down my windows 98se, so I installed the windows 98se shutdown patch and it worked, then I moved on to my other computer, which was having the same problem shutting down, so installed the patch and it doesnt work, it still doesnt shutdown, I downloaded it again, re installed it and it doesnt work, On the microsoft website it doesnt guarentee it, but is there anything else I can do to get this working? -any suggestions are welcome -Colin
