Comment:

If I have only the Win98 folder of a Windows 98 SE install CD, how can I tell if it is Retail or OEM? Full or Upgrade??

Also, How can I do the same for WinME???

Thanks,
SimonSez07

1. If you try to install and it refuses and states that it has found an older version of Windows, then you have the Full version.

2. When it asks for your serial number, OEM versions will have OEM written in the middle of the serial number.

Thank you for your suggestion, but I am trying to find out before installing (I should have mentioned that). Also, if by serial number, you mean CD Key, thats not entirely true. The CD Key I got for an OEM version of Win98 SE is TH6R2-DPJXD-F7DCG-9D3HJ-RFG2D. I'm not sure if this works, but I am told it does, and it does not have OEM anywhere in it.

Thanks anyway,

Why do you say it is an OEM version? If it was, OEM would be in that Product Key as
Preston stated above.
