Which 'autostart' are you referring to?
The CD autostart or autorun?

If CD then hit Windows key+Pause/Break button to bring up the System Properties dialog box.
Go to Device manager tab.
Expand the CD-ROM section.
Doubleclick on your CDROM device to bring up it's properties page.
On the Settings tab place a check next ot "Auto Insert notification"
Click Apply and Ok.

Otherwise please advise,
Bryan

"download the file with the icon"
That just confused me....

Best bet is to state the full path and file names for whatever you require.

Here are some possibilities (where D is your CD drive):

D:\autorun.inf

D:\cdsample\autorun\autorun.exe

D:\cdsample\autorun\win98cd.ico

I'm guessing you might mean the last two. Confirm what you mean and either I or someone else can send you the files or provide a link.

I assume you want to burn them onto a new CD as replacements (with all the rest of the CD files).

That one came back "no such mailbox" even though I pasted directly off your #8

Have you tried searching Google for these files?

If not come back and I'll give it another go (to somewhere of your choice). I will definitely look back but it won't be until late tomorrow.

#8 is number 8. I copied and pasted the email address you gave in your post number 8, this one:

intel@bezeqint.net

It came back "no such mailbox".

I have no website. Seems there is no way I can get them to you.

With respect Nizar this is typical of some posts we get on here.

Firstly it would have been much clearer if you had just said you wanted the files autorun.exe and win98cd.ico from the Win98SE CD.

On here, we simply try to help people, (unpaid and in our own spare time). No idea why - we just do).

You suggested email as a possibility. I am still on dial-up, so twice I waste time fiddling about sending them out and getting them bounced back (at half my normal internet speed - my server works that way).

Wouldn't it have been a nice idea to ensure that your email worked before posting this?

I get quite used to not receiving any thanks for trying but now, as so often happens, the post goes completely dead.

Why is this?

I'm still happy to try again. I have no email problem at all. Just tell me which one to try and I'll have another go. Maybe you could check it out first by sending a message to yourself.

One other thing, are you set to receive .exe files (IE6 default will not allow them)? If necessary I can put them in a .zip file. Just trying to anticipate the next problem.

You just say how you want them and which address to use and I'll send them once more.

I'm about to send them in a zip file, multi-addressed to both of your email addresses.

I'll let you know what happens.

Same thing happened, both came back. Here is what I pasted off the returned messages:

inXXX@bezeqint.net>... No such mailbox

Delivery to the following recipients failed. salaXXX_issam@hotmail.com

I've deliberately put the XXX in your email address on here just in case you don't want them to be directly printed for all to see, but they were perfectly correct in the email.

My email is working fine in both directions so you must be the one with the problems. Sort it out, post back one that works, and I'll try yet again.

My idea of sending yourself a message first is worth trying, that way you will know if they are working.

I've been trying again. The bezeqint.net address doesn't work at all.

Looks like I might have got the .ico file to you via hotmail, but for some reason it returns anything with a zip or exe file attached. There may be a security or size restriction, so perhaps hotmail can explain.

Make sure of the spelling for your bezeqint.net address. If you can see what is wrong I'll send the exe to that address again.

Put these files in the same folder:

Autorun.001
Autorun.002
Autorun.003
Autorun.004
Batfile.txt

Change the name of Batfile.txt to Batfile.bat

Double click Batfile.bat and this will produce Autorun.ZIP

Autorun.exe is inside this.

Use Winzip to open Autorun.ZIP (normally you just double click Autorun.ZIP and use "Extract" on the Winzip screen).

This will give you Autorun.exe

Messy process but all I could do to get over your problems with sending the full file to your email address in one go.

Let me know what happens and particularly if you have not received "all" of the files listed above.

I told you it works i have all the 5 files :
Autorun.001
Autorun.002
Autorun.003
Autorun.004
Batfile.txt

now the problem is done but my question is how did you part the file autorun to 4 files it is mean what is the program name that you use.

another question is the file d:\setup.exe i copied the d:\win98\Ena\setup.exe to d:\ and the copied file didn't work didn't open are the two fiels the same in size?
if not send me please the file setup.exe to my yahoo mail which is better than hotmail nizar_salameh2004@yahoo.com this is right email

We obviously have a slight language difficulty but, yes, I now understand.

The program I used can be downloaded from here free (there are many others around but it works fine - very easy to use):

FILE SHREDDER V3.02

I'll have a look at your second query and will come back soon.

On my Win98SE CD (full version) I have no Ena folder.

I have two, one straight off the D root and another in D:\Win98

Both are different in size. I've no idea about the Ena folder. All I can do is send you both files (one at a time) and tell you where each one is located on my CD.

They are both small - watch your email.

This is crazy.

I sent the files to the 2004 address you gave and they came back "could not be delivered".

I've sent them to the address we used for the four Auotrun files and this appears to have worked.

I hope this is of some use. In view of the difficulties in sending files to you, may I ask that if you want any more you repost, asking for them by file name.

Perhaps someone with a website can help better and maybe they have some version of the Win98SE CD with that Ena folder on it. Unfortunately I can't spend any more time on this.

See you around.

I sent the two setup.exe files to salameh_issam@hotmail.com

One was for D Root, the other for D:\Win98

They did not come back, so unless you have deleted them they should be there.

There are 22 setup.exe files on my Win98SE.
Sorry too busy to send any more. Borrow a Win98SE CD from a friend and copy whatever fies you need.

ohh dude i recieved them but they were in junked emails see this:
Hotmail has permanently blocked the following potentially unsafe attachment(s): setup.exe (< 0.01 MB) More Info...
so you should put them in a zip file so hotmail will not block them sorry
i just want the d root file
