The screensaver which comes with windows 98 takes a screenshot then creates stacking blocks which recreate the screen in 3D.Well this screen saver is stacking these blocks at top speed and I am unable to slow it down. Anybody know how to change this?
And there he was....gone

Go to control panel , display , screensaver, then clik settings and there is a box you can change the speed
" IF IT AINT BROKE - LEAVE IT ALONE "

Why on earth you would even USE a screensaver is beyond me--think about it--it causes the system to do a certain amount of work, including, of course, the monitor.
Screensavers were invented back in the days before we had power control.
Just go into your power settings and have the monitor shut down after a few minutes. MUCH, much easier on all components, and makes a lot less heat in the room!!

Changing the speed indicated in the box has no effect. When "preview" is initiated the boxes in the screensaver are still flying at full speed.
As per "name"s solution-seems when I set my computer to shut down after a certain time It requires a re-boot to start up my monitor.Moving the mouse or "hit any key"does't work so I just disabled that feature.

Screen savers serve no purpose with modern monitors, so they are just for fun. On that basis you could choose a different screen saver from Display Properties.
Best way is to then find the screensaver file then make a shortcut to it. Next set your screensaver to "none". When you want the screens saver to work you just click the icon. Mouse/keyboard movements will still clear it.
That way it doesn't get in the way when you are running scandisk, defrag, or installing programs.
