Hi...I just recently ran Trend Micro online virus scanner on a network connect win 98 machine. It found 7 worms and 1 Trojan. Being stupid I didn't right down their names. Anyway it cleaned them out of the system and the computer worked faster and I booted it 3 times and got into the network. But when I installed Norton 2003 Anti Virus, after booting the computer, I couldn't get back into windows. It would take me to the logon screen then suddenly reboot. I've delete Norton's folder through DOS since I can't get into windows and don't know what to do now. Is the virus still on my computer? If so how do I get it out so I can get back into windows.

At this point, I am not sure what you can do. But, you should have made the Norton recovery floppy, which would have all the files you need to run a virus scan from DOS. Your hard drive is obviously corrupted, so you need to run a virus check from a floppy, which will have clean files. It may require a complete reformat and reinstall. HTH.

just boot to c:\ type in c:\scanreg/restore in the menu, select a date when the computer was okay.

I think you need a space after scanreg.

Hi, If none of the above work, just try reloading windows. You will be able to keep all your existing data. Good Luck, ~winipcfg
