windows 98 invalid system disk

invalid system disk replace the disk and then press any key....i cant fix this problem because the floppy drive does not work..is there any way to get passed this without the floppy drive? but i do have a cd-rom

I don't know what you have in mind but you can get to the command prompt C by tapping F8 whilst booting then selecting it from the list.

If you mean your hard drive is no longer 'bootable' then (without a floppy drive) you'd want to try and boot to DOS from a Win98 CD and try restoring the boot files by entering:

sys c:

... however, it might be worthwhile to ensure that the drive is correctly seen in the BIOS

Burnable ISOs can be found here, if you don't currently possess the appropriate bootable CD

If you don't have the disc or access to a burner, then it's time to replace that floppy drive

I'm not one of those who think Bill Gates is the devil. I simply suspect that if Microsoft ever met up with the devil, it wouldn't need an interpreter.

... as well, you might want to check the BIOS to determine if this system even can be booted from a CD - older systems did not always have that option

I'm not one of those who think Bill Gates is the devil. I simply suspect that if Microsoft ever met up with the devil, it wouldn't need an interpreter.

Might be easier (wiser?) overall to simply replace the floppy drive unit (before they cease to be available...)? They cost peanuts these days...???

Then you can run the sys c: routine etc...

Sure - despite the modern trend, a functioning FDD can be invaluable
