For others, it's this post:

Best stick to original post in future, unless it's gone way down the page. You just add to it (as if you were responding) using the form at the bottom. This saves folk having to search around and prevents the same ideas being repeated.

I assume you've searched for driver in Google?

It seems like you're looking for the Win98 disk or CAB files.

Possibly (when you reinstalled Windows) they're on the hard drive C:\windows\options\cabs - at any rate, you must have had access to the '98 CD at one time - that would be the simplest thing.

Missed your last post Matt. Windows can be problematic when you install drivers without the installation files/CD.

The CAB files themselves are not(legitimately) available for download.

One other thing you can try is using the browse option when it asks for the Win98 CD and point it to C:\Windows\System or C:\Windows\Help. Either one of these paths might have the files it's looking for to complete your installation.

Post back and let us know your status.

Well, I can tell you that kuser.dll is not in any of the 98SE CAB files.

Only 2 references to it on Google - and those are just requests for the file.

Are you certain you're installing the correct driver for your card & system?

Ok i tried the methods, no dice. But i did get the names of the files. They are: wdmaudio.cat , ksuser.dll , gm16.dls , wdmaud.drv , portcls.sys , redbook.sys , sbemul.sys , stream.sys , swmidi.sys , wdmaud.sys. That the files it asked for from the CD-Rom. If anybody has a copy of the CD and can extract these file, i would appreciate it, just email them to me. I dont think it would be illegal, i got a valid CD-Key and everything.

thanks

Windows will sometimes `mistakenly' ask for the win98 install CD. Try browsing to the folder where you have stored the drivers and make it look there.

I know this is boring but try searching for each file in Google. I started doing it and got plenty of hits. You might stumble across something useful or maybe all the files at one website.

Some here - appear to be from 98

You're running 98FE, right?

I think you may be SOL for kuser though.

I'm somewhat convinced that this is the 'hard way' - possibly another driver package would include these files.

What IS the sound card in question, and where did you get the driver d/l?

I did a Yahoo! search for some of the requested files and got several hits with what you might need. Try that and see if that helps.

Did you try browsing the driver disk as Dan suggested in #10? Unless you got a bad or incomplete version, they should be there. It may need the 98 cd to set up the game port but everything else should be on the driver disk/download.
