I just installed 64MB of memory on my Sony PCG-505f. The BIOS setup says I have 96.0 MB of memory, but Windows 98 says I have only 32.0 MB !!!!! What's up with that?

Windows gets its memory info from the BIOS. Click the Start button, select Run and enter the word "mem" (w/o the quotes). If the resulting DOS window does not show all memory, then there's a problem with the BIOS. You can open the BIOS setup during bootup and look at the memory settings. If you have a setting for Memeory caching >64MB (or words to thaty effect), set it to OS2. Also try removing the old 32MB chip and see if windows identifies the single 64 MB chip. There may be a wierd bug in a memory segment of the chip that prevents windows from addressing it. Finally, be sure the new chip is of the same type and nanosecond speed of the older chip.
