Ever since I installed windows 98 on my computer (through the upgrade disc) my DOS mode has not worked with any of my old DOS progs, is there anyway to install the old DOS version 6.22 over Win 98 MS-DOS? (I have a theory about using the old command.com as my command interpreter but I don't really know how to do it)

You could use a program like System Commander which will let you choose which OS to boot from.
There is also a much messier way by swapping some of the system files like command.com and io.sys and msdos.sys. BUT, it is tricky and I don't recommend it.
As always, make sure you have backups and recovery disks if you start messin' with things.
And, yes, I have seen the same problem with Win98 DOS. Some of my DOS programs don't work either. Get used to it, though. A sign of things to come. Once Microsoft consolidates Win98 and WinNT into Windows 2000, say goodbye to your DOS backward compatibility.

I have had a lot of success with using the following method.
Create a shortcut to the application/exe file.
right click on the shortcut you created.
Go to properties and click on programs. Click on close application on exit and then go into advanced area disable dos prompt, if this does not work then tick prevent dos program from detecting windows, it has worked many a time for me. The old 1 2 guarantee applies, (once you've gone it's too late)
