Comment: Just got some Fujitsu 1600 Notebooks w/ Win '95A on them that the Co. will not upgrade nor discount. I am not real familiar w/ '95A other than the FAT sys. Are there other shortcomings that I should demand upgrade? Could someone offer comparison of '95A vs '95C, please? larry.wainwright@baycare.org

Reply: (edit)You can download (it takes a while...) most of the 'improvements' that went into OSR2B 2.5/(C?)... I can't remember where exactly, but I'm pretty sure someone will come in with thelink/site... Is it worth the 'upgrade' - probably yes; as there were some fixes etc... OSR2 as 'sold' with new systems, included basic USB support (not a download as far as I know..), but the '98 USB is said to be 'streets ahead...' OSR2 is also around in discount sites/computer fairs for few £££'s/$$$'s so it might be worth considering??? Good luck, LM-S

Reply: (edit)I can reload(legally) Windows '95C at a moments notice but these systems are specially configured with numerous applications that work together. It would be a beast to get them working. The vendor has used the excuse that they couldn't get the next version from MSoft because of the DOJ actions. I am now trying to force them to upgrade to at least "C". Need ammo to convince them to do so. The FAT16 vs FAT32 is a good start but I was wondering what other shortcomings 95A had so that I could use that in my reasoning. Thks 4 your post.

Reply: (edit)I can give you a litte amunition for your case, as I run win95A on my IBM/486/33mhz/scsi, and on my AST/486/25mhz/notebook. win95A:Pros- Is smaller operating system. When cleaned up it only takes 29mbs. win95A:Cons- 1) takes 1-3 hours to load. 2) does not support USB. 3) has drivers but not as may as cd rom version. 4) every time you make a change in control panel/add remove programs/window setup you have to use about 8 disks to get a simple change done. Very time consuming. 5) floppy disks can pick up viruses and cd roms usually don't. 6) floppy disks go bad easily. should have at least a few copies of the 22 disks needed to complete the set. 7) if set does go bad and needs replacing, the only place I saw them was a website selling for $179.00. Good luck. Terri
