Parameter
1 - A constant in the equation of a curve that can be varied to yield a family of similar curves
2 - Any factor that defines a system and determines (or limits) its performance
3 - A quantity (such as the mean or variance) that characterizes a statistical population and that can be estimated by calculations from sample data

a parameter is kinda like a variable
its something for example in dos you typed edit it would go into edit, but if you wanted to see you.txt
you would type edit you.txt
you.txt is the parameter because its after the main program
its hard to explain but with any luck you will get it

What they said.
Parameters are measures or values of an individual unit. The hard drive parameters are the number of Cylinders, heads and sectors. These parameters measure how they are different from other hard drives operationally.
Parameters are specificions you may need to enter someplace.
