Subject: Windows 95 wont start now
Comment:

I tried to install ms' "Personal Web Server" but when I restarted my computer, windows says something about a violation (I cant recall and cant check since I'm running scandisk on that PC) and tells me to restart the computer. I can get in through safe mode to fix it, but I dont know whats wrong. scandisk is running right now. Please Help!

This is why you want to back up your registry files (DAT) first. You need to restart by reinstalling windows fresh. Make sure your BIOS, CPU and RAM is sufficent for "Personal Server"

believe it or not usually that error is a result of a hardware issue. either display isnt correct or windows is trying to load something and if knows somethings is wrong.
some of the things you can try is go into safe mode and then into device manager.
make sure there isnt exclamation points or question marks. the stand for conflict or drivers arent installed. also check to see if there isnt duplicates of hardware. in other words make sure that there isnt two cdroms when you only have one. check each hardware make sure there isnt more than one.
you could also be having memory problems you may want to get that checked out too. Also go back into safemode and unistall the last thing of software that may have caused the problems. that message isnt generally a windows error message it just letting you know there is something else wrong with the computer and not allowing windows to load.
you can check you win.ini folder and system.ini folder config.sys and autoexec.bat to see if anything is trying to load with windows. If you dont know anything about those files call microsoft.

Window IOS is failure to load a critical virtual machine -- most like video. Because your system may be "resource poor" due to lots of devices, yank sound, nic, and modem and rerun setup. (You can reinstall them later). For the whole scoop on IOS protection errors see the article at www.techtony.com

Okay gabriel, I ollowed that, and I can work windows normally now, but it wont load any many apps. A lot of apps work, but when I click on IE or other things, it just doesnt load it without an error
