When I start, before I see the Windows 95 loading screen, I receive a message informing me that my pre-release version of Windows 98 is about to expire unless I upgrade. I've never even had a Win 98 CD near my PC! Any help would be appreciated.

You have had a prank pulled on you. Boot into windows in safe mode and check your start/programs/startup folder.
Failing that, from the DOS prompt edit Win.ini, there you will find the culprit in either the run= or load= lines.

If the previous idea doesn`t work, download this program from my web site and, after unzipping it, click the first box: ..will never expire..
Don`t worry about the wording in it- after all you don`t even have win98 now, right?
It`s just one of those strange Microsoft things...:-)
