Aye go to EBAY and buy another set.
Alternatively put the laptop hard drive in
a PC with an adaptor and copy over the
install files of whatever O/S you have to
hand. BTW Linux is FREE.

Hello

plainandsimple's advise is about the best these days, i.e. go to EBAY and buy another set.

Or go to some of your local computer fairs & see if you can buy a set. I picked up two sets of W95A disks (12 disks per set) from an obsolete Compaq distribution (it had other Compaq disks in it too - you don't need them unless you have a Compaq system)
Although they are upgrade sets - they work fine. You need a 'Qualifying Product' to use them - MSDOS v5 or higher, Win3x (any version).
Boot Disks are available all over the Web, but the best are at http://www.bootdisk.com/

I just use a standard Win98SE boot disk for installing any version of W95 or W98. The W98SE boot disk is so darn good.

You do NOT need to install MSDOS or Win3x.

Actually, you only need the 'disk 1' from Win3x or MSDOS so that the OS loader can read it when it asks for it. These older OS can be bought on Ebay or at computer fairs.

An excellent site for version info is
http://www.mdgx.com/
It is also known as Axcel216's free site.
Scroll down the left hand menu to '9x-ME specs' link. The site has heaps & heaps of info & patches & advice (it puts to shame Micro$oft's site at times). The pages are long, but load very quick. There are heaps of pages - take your time to search & look. I spend lots of time there learning about all the basics.

Don't forget to apply the Service Pack. Micro$oft still has it & heaps of other updates & extras still availble. You may also need to update other files.
Try these links - (highlight them, then 'cut & paste' them to your browser is easiest wat to go http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/

The only problem with W95A is that there is NO USB support, and there is nothing you can do about it, as there is NO code written into the OS kernel. (W95B & W95C have the code.)

Go to ebay and in the 'computers and networking' category do a search for:

adapter laptop hard drive

Several will show there (as well as other stuff that the search picks up).

If that's the route you want to go, post back when you get the adapter and we'll tell you how to copy the files.

Hmm, I don't think my message posted, but anyway. I searched for hours for this set and finally found someone had kindly uploaded a set of them at:

http://www.ryanc.co.uk/Windows/win95.html

He doesn't seem to give out any instructions, but I soon found what to do. A simple procedure.
