This ibm thinkpad is not hooked up to the internet because I have no wires. Need to find them, also need to be able to download free childs games onto a 3.5 floppy for this computer and need to update this computer. It is a windows 95 thinkpad type9545-KOE. 755CS S/N 23-MW722
OK send me a Private Message (in your My Computing.Net) with your email address and I will send them to you with instructions. Don't put your email address on here or the spammers will find it and bombard you with junk email. Note that, from what you are saying, you will have to use a floppy. This can't be done unless your own computer also has a floppy drive. Without that we have no way to get them across to the W95.
As for internet well I just can't see any way forward without USB ports and even a Wireless Adapter might not have worked out on Win 95.
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
Sorry but I can't make much sense of your post. It seems you are referring to several things in one sentence. Could you set them out one at a time and explain what you need or what problems you are having with each one please? EDIT:
I see the original post has been edited now.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
What are the chances that 2 different posters are asking about the same outdated IBM system a few weeks apart? http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...
It's time to put that antique in a museum.
My grandson enjoys this. He is only three. And it keeps him off of my computer and laptop.
If you are KimEverhart then let us know because we can refer to that post too. Not sure what you mean by no wires. You obviously need a phone line, server, and appropriate connecting equipment. If you have wireless it is possible you might(?) be able to find a USB wireless adapter for it (looks like a flash drive) but it's a bit chancy. That assumes it has USB ports.
I can provide some simple games if necessary (MS Entertainment packs).
It is not worth updating that computer. I understand you reasons but I'm afraid it's a fact. XP (which is nearing end of support) for example would never run on it. It wouldn't be worth spending the money on a Win XP disk. A cheap second hand computer with XP on it would be a better bet.
As you mentioned floppies - has the computer a CD player?
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
No, it has floppy discs. I need games for my three year old grandson. He only has a couple things on this that he can play. He enjoys it because he thinks he is an adult.
The entertainment packs would be great. How would I go about getting them? I also do need an internet wire and possibly a phone line. I do have wireless connection her, so what should I do next? Thank you and yes I am Kim Everhart
p.s. No usb ports.
If you could help me with the games and possibly connection wires, it would be most helpful. I guess I will just let my grandson play games on it.

Yes, I am in the U.S.A. I do have a floppy on the computer in the other room. So tell me how to go about this, I would love to get some more help for this problem, also the games.
Have just edited my #7. I'm afraid the internet is no go. PM me as per first para #7 and I will send the Entertainment Packs with loading instructions - quite easy.
If that works out I'll grub around to see if I have any other simple games that would run on there - but no promises LOL.

I think this link will find your "My Computing Net" section:
http://www.computing.net/cgi-bin/my...Once there you will find the Private Message feature. Use my name exactly as given (including capital D).
By the way, that link only finds ones own page so others will not link to yours.

IMPORTANT Please edit out your email address in #10 ASAP. I've noted it.
EDIT:
Original response #10 with email address has now been removedI'm in the UK and it is nearly 1.45am. I'm well known for being a night owl but time for bed now. I'll email you later tomorrow.

I'm not sure what that thinkpad comes with, but you should be able to get a pcmcia dialup modem for it for an internet connection. You may not need that though if Derek can send some games. I too have the entertainment packs that I think originally were for windows 3.1 but work just fine with 95/98.
I HAVE A thinkpad-it does not have a usb port but it does have a pcmcia slot and i do have a usb adapter,i bought it a few years back, you can probably still find one in some of the computing stores, possibly E BAY but you need to be careful with ebay--too many crooks there-trying to take you---i am serious---I also have a manual for the thinkpad--mine had win95 on it--if you are having trouble with it starting up--try safe mode using the f8 key-then it will ask you for installing the drivers say yes
sometimes this will work,i have a cd rom for mine and a floppy but you cant run but one at a time
Re #16 onwards. Maybe I missed it but can't see any mention of Format. Not so sure we'll see the poster again anyway - last one was 29 December 2012. We shall see.
