That's a very difficult (impossible?) job. There are parts of it that are unique to each system.

Plenty of questions, very few answers.

While not impossible - after all, it's just a text file - they tend to be fairly unique to each system.

This all seems very bass ackwards.

There is a win.ini that can be extracted from the 95 cd but it only contains two font lines and nothing else. So I'm sure it wouldn't do you any good.

If creating one in dos is your only option, it'd be best to get a copy of someone's and then edit it to remove as many references as possible that are unique to their system.

Question:

I am trying to install Windows 95A (full version) from CD, but I keep getting the error message:

"Your Computer Already Has an Operating System..."

How can I overcome this problem and install Windows on my DOS machine?

Possible Answer:

Windows OEM versions require an empty hard drive to install to.

Get a Win95A bootdisk file from here - the file will have to be executed from the harddrive of a Windows machine in order to create the boot floppy.

Boot from the bootdisk with CD support.

Format the HDD on your DOS machine. If there are any irreplacable files on the hard drive, back them up first.

Run setup from the CD.

Hopefully that's an accurate assessment of your situation, as the information you've provided seems to have come from a 'penny a peck' keyboard.

If not, then please try to respond with detailed information concerning what you're actually trying to accomplish, what you've tried so far (and how that's worked out) - also report any error messages as precisely as possible.
