I have a desktop computer(Pentium II) and my CD-ROM doesn’t work anymore. Therefore, I have used my External CD-Writer to read CD. Now, I would like to reformat and reinstall my computer with Win 98 Second Edtion but I am afraid to do it because my CD-ROM won’t work for me to load Win 98 setup file. Can I load Win98 setup file from my External CD-Writer? If I can, how can I load up the driver for my CD-Writer. Someone please help me. Thanks a lot.

No thanks thanks, all this information has been posted, digested and regurgitated many times. Suprisingly on the left is a section called "SITE SEARCH" as well as a "GO SEARCH" function at top of page.

Roger, the site search would not have found any of those links. The only ones you listed on this site were in the dos forum. Should we send bmt91 there? ;-)
Whilst you can install dos usb drivers onto a boot disk, wouldn't it be easier to replace the failed CDROM? They are surprisingly cheap these days.
