Comment:

Whenever I play a song on Winamp 3 I get horrible static in the background. When I play the same songs on WMP I get perfect playback. I've found that if I have WMP open when playing a song in Winamp the sound quality is much better. Any suggestions?

Ditto. Winamp 3 is known to have issues. Even Nullsoft knows this and offers older 2.XX versions on their site.

Try going to the Control Panel/Multimedia/Audio/Your sound card/Advanced Properties/Performance/ and change the Hardware Acceleration.
