WINAMP lag

i am having a lag of my mp3 playback in winamp whenever i load a webpage? like the resources are too low or the sound is being interrupted. also when i click a button andit makes a sound, if i have the song paused, after the mouse sound it plays a quick snippit of the song... whats the deal?

Sounds like it is using onboard sound instead of your soundcard.

I am using WinAmp2.8x and I can right click anywhere on it to bring up it's program menu. From the menu I can click on Options, Preferences, Output, Configure and select the Output device being my Soundcard verses Primary sound driver. This resolved the same problem for me.

i only have the onboard sound but its a six channel. i installed windows98se on a new hdd and thats when it started...... it never did that before on my old drive
