I don't know what you mean by "cheap." The least expensive version of XP to buy is an "upgrade" version of "XP home". You'll have to look around for the best price--you can search the internet or your local area, as well as ebay.

You "may" get lucky and find a so called unbranded OEM version too, but frankly, the upgrade is actually more versitil. You can do either an upgrade from '98, or you can do a "clean" install (format the drive) and then somewhere in the install process the installer will "ask" for proof, at which time you'll have to insert your Windows 98 CD.
