I istalled windows 98se and after installing all the drivers and such the computer would restart right after shutting it down. So I formatted the drive again, installed windows and drivers then it would shut off fine. Anyone know what might have been goin on? Only thing I can think off was a driver wasn't shutting down properly and causeing the system to reboot, even thought I used the same drivers the second time around. Thanks.

Sometimes in the boot strap, there's a command that could be set as: "Boot=1", or "boot=0". I think that's how it goes, but anyway, if its set on 1 i think the computer will automatically keep restarting itself. I don't know how to change this option but im sure microsofts website will have the documentary on it.

What you describe was once common to my installs of 98se too. And then I learned to copy the Win98 folder from the CD to the hard drive and run setup from the hard drive. In addition to saving me 10 minutes of install time right off, I get no more 'weird' installs. 98 seems to run much, much better and I can only ascribe that to faulty 'just in time' reads from the install CD. The hard drive won't make that kind of mistake so installing from there is faster and better.
