You've got more programs running in the background than you think you do, which will slow things down and eat up system resources.

Click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG, then click Okay. When the box appears, click the StartUp tab. Everything listed with a checkmark loads during startup. Unchecking any of them will disable them from doing this. If you disable a wrong one or change your mind about one, you can go back and recheck it and enable it.

Similar to the way Windows works; to perform a given function there are several ways to accomplish it.

Which is most relevant is up to the user.

For example; to open My Computer, from the active desktop I can simply hit the letter M and hit Enter. (did you know you could do that?) This is one of many ways to open My Computer.

I am believing that John is offering a subjective answer to the posters question.
John is offering seven ways to comprehend the low memory problem.
