Anytime now for the past week almost everytime that I open Explorer from my try Icon to look at folders or Programs etc. I receive an error message that is different everytime. It's either an "invalid fault" or "Explorer has an error in Module unknown00000:o1e5f6d8" or another numeric file reference. Explorer does open each time but each time I get the error nessage, a bunch of programs icons disappear from the bar at the bottom and I can't reopen them without a reboot. I have experimented with some new trial programs before and probably during the time this error first appeared. Obviously it' somrthing I've done inadvertently but can't recall the specific occasion. Registry cleanups, scanreg/restore and anything else I've tried hasn't fixed it and I'm starting to live up to my name. Is it possible just to reinstall windows Explorer by itself from the Win98SE disk? And if so how? The Problem is NOT my Internet Explorer Browser! Thanks for any suggestions!!! whacky

First boot to a DOS prompt and type scanreg/fix. If this doesn't fix it, put your Win 98 cd in the tray and click Start/ Run /SFC and see if it can be repaired that way.

I suggest that you reinstall windows `on top'. It takes less than an hour, you should not lose any data and it `should' fix the problem.
